Now part of Canon. The Toshiba Aquilion Super CT is part of the Aquilion series of computed tomography (CT) scanners developed by Toshiba Medical Systems (now Canon Medical Systems). It is designed for high-performance imaging with advanced technology aimed at improving diagnostic capabilities across various medical applications.

    Key Features

    1. Multi-Slice Technology. The Aquilion Super CT scanner is a multi-slice CT system, offering higher speed and better image resolution. It likely features 16-slice or higher capabilities, allowing for faster scans and higher-quality images than earlier single-slice or quad-slice systems. This makes it suitable for imaging complex areas of the body, including the heart and lungs.

    2. High-Speed Imaging. The Aquilion Super CT is designed for fast image acquisition, which is essential for time-sensitive situations such as trauma or emergency cases. Its high-speed scanning also reduces motion artifacts, improving image clarity in dynamic studies like cardiac imaging.

    3. Advanced Image Quality. The system provides submillimeter slice thickness, allowing for detailed imaging of small structures in the body. This is beneficial in a wide range of applications, including cardiology, neurology, and oncology.

    4. Low Radiation Dose. Like other systems in the Aquilion series, the Super CT likely incorporates Toshiba’s dose-reduction technologies, such as AIDR 3D (Adaptive Iterative Dose Reduction), which helps to minimize radiation exposure while maintaining high image quality.

    5. Wide Clinical Applications. The Toshiba Aquilion Super CT can be used in various clinical scenarios.

    Application

    • Cardiac CT. For non-invasive heart imaging and coronary artery disease assessment.
    • Neurological Studies. For diagnosing conditions such as strokes and brain tumors.
    • Oncology For detecting and monitoring tumors.
    • Trauma Imaging. In emergency settings where quick and accurate imaging is essential for patient management.
