A scanner particularly popular among smaller hospitals and clinics due to its affordability and reliable performance. The Toshiba Asteion MultiSlice CT is a computed tomography (CT) scanner developed by Toshiba Medical Systems (now Canon Medical Systems). It is part of the Asteion series of CT scanners. It is known for providing multi-slice imaging capabilities, which significantly enhance diagnostic precision and scanning efficiency.

    Key Features:

    1. Multi-Slice Technology. The Asteion MultiSlice CT scanner offers 4-slice capability, meaning it can acquire four cross-sectional images (or slices) of the body in a single rotation. This allows for faster scans, which reduces the time patients need to stay still and decreases the overall duration of the exam. It also improves image resolution and enables more detailed 3D reconstructions.

    2. Fast Scanning and Image Quality. With its ability to capture multiple slices per rotation, the Asteion MultiSlice offers improved temporal resolution. This feature is critical for dynamic studies such as angiography or scans of moving organs (e.g., the heart or lungs).

    3. Compact & Efficient Design. Like many CT scanners designed for a broad range of clinical applications, the Asteion MultiSlice is compact and space-efficient, making it suitable for clinics, hospitals, and emergency rooms with limited space.

    4. Dose Reduction. Toshiba’s Asteion series was designed with technologies that help manage and reduce patient radiation exposure, ensuring safety while still providing high-quality images. Toshiba pioneered dose management techniques to optimise patient safety.

    5. Applications. It is suitable for a wide variety of clinical applications, including cardiology, neurology, oncology, and trauma imaging, providing detailed images for diagnostic purposes.

    6. Advanced Image Reconstruction. The Asteion MultiSlice also incorporates advanced image reconstruction algorithms to deliver clear, high-contrast images that enhance diagnostic confidence.
