The Siemens SOMATOM Sensation MultiSlice CT series is a family of multislice computed tomography scanners designed to provide high-quality imaging into a broad range of clinical applications. One popular model in this family, the SOMATOM Sensation 16, manages rapid 3D body and cardiac scans at unparalleled image quality.
Equipped with 16 slices per rotation, it offers high-speed data acquisition and highly detailed internal structures. Hence, it is suitable for diagnosis in neurology, cardiology, and oncology.
Siemens Sensation series uses advanced spiral-CT technology to ensure that the body is scanned continuously as the patient moves through the machine. Advanced spiral-CT scans will also enable quicker scanning with fewer motion artifacts and high-resolution images that can be reconstructed into 3D views.
Another advantage of this machine is the Siemens CARE dose reduction technology, thereby reducing radiation exposure to a minimum quantity to the patient. This is quite useful in repeated scans and pediatric imaging.
The Sensation series features a 70-cm gantry aperture, which provides better access and comfort even for larger patients. The volumetric data is handled efficiently on the syngo WorkStream platform for fast and smooth evaluation of images – a possible treasure in trauma or emergency situations.
The Sensation models come in different configurations; higher-end models, such as the Sensation 64, can do even faster imaging and higher resolution for more specialized applications, including detailed cardiac imaging and angiography.
